During the wonder ful passage w hich the Alaska una just completed considerable rough weather was encountered, the wind blowing from tho westward the greater portion of the time, whilo tho soas often ran Tory high. Some field ice was passed on the Banks, and the steamer was headed to the southward for a time in order to avoid it.
