It was bought by the Star Mill and Elevator Co. The lot weighed 40,310 pounds, which lacks only ten pound of making 672 bushels on 72 acres of ground, and contained both spring and fall crops. The fall crop tested 63¿ pounds, the spring crop, 62 pounds. The wheat was raised on the farm of Jake Litteral whose home is in Jasper county, Missouri. This farm under the management of J. B. More than thirty companies withdrew from the state and declare that they will write no more business in Texas until this new law is changed. It appears from the statements, that the new law requires that 75 per of the reserve fund be invested in Texas securities, and that these se- curities be deposited in the state, thus making them subject to taxation. Why, the bonus, right-of-way, depot grounds, etc., for the Panhandle Short Line railway. The matter is fixed as far as the city of Lubbock is concerned. The matter is ad- justed and the bonus and other requirements fully guaranteed by men who, in the aggregate, are worth many thousands of dol'ars. "Raising four crops a year of al- falfa on $10 an acre land, is a money making proposition," said C. B. An- derson of Canadian, Texas. "But as big and unreasonable as that may seem, it is actually being done down there. A man who owns that kind of land can raise alfalfa, sell it every year and pay for the land every sei son, and have a nice amounj of mon- ey left.
