STATE SCHOOL, WHITTLESEA. DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. On Friday, 21st December, 1883, prizes were given out at the above school, the money for the purchase of books having been raised by subscrip tion. The Rev. W. Souter, who had kindly consented to officiate on the   occasion, gave a very suitable address to the scholars, and in the presence of the head-teacher (Mr. Barker), the Correspondent of the Board (Mr. Der went A. Price), and another of the members (Mr. J. Coulthard), presented     the books to the children, who appeared   very well satisfied and pleased. The   books were highly approved of by Mr. Barker and others. After the distri bution, hearty cheers were given at the intstigation of Mr. Souter for the Board of Advice and teachers; the Correspon dent raised three cheers for Mr. Souter, and with spontaneous cheers from the scholars, who were then dismissed by Mr. Barker for the holidays, the affair terminated s...
