sa Canberra's New Population OB Some epoch-making events have oc curred in the history of Canberra, the most recent being-, of course, the open ing" of the Federal Parliament House by his Royal Highness the Duke of York. There are other events, probably as equally important in the development of Australia's national city, and the immediate transfer of Commonwealth Departments from Melbourne, is a mat ter of vital concern, not only to the future government of Australia, but to those hundreds of public servants who will shortly be leaving behind their long association with the Victorian capital, and making their homes in Canberra, as well as to present residents, as many of these Melbournians are important figures in the social, musical, and artis tic life of that city. This sudden break from life's long ties and intereste must cause many a pang, and will create in the newcomers a need for a warm and sympathetic welcome to their new sur roundings, and all residents have a clear duty t...

SOCCER MOLONGLO STILL UNBEATEN [Newspaper Article] — Canberra Community News — 18 July 1927

SOCCER MOLONGLO STILL UNBEATEN The first round of the senior competi tion, conducted by the Federal Capital Territory Soccer Associati©n, has re sulted in some most interesting dis plays of the round bali game, and the four teams in the competition appear to be most evenly matched. So far Molonglo have proved their superiority by winning three out of the four matches they have played to date, and are, therefore, at the head of the League table with 7 points to their credit. Considerable improvement, however, has been noticed in the play of the other three teams, and it is quite on the cards that any one of them may put "paid" to the account of the leaders! before many Saturdays are through. The newly-formed Queanbeyan team is a good asset to the association, and as they are enabled to play their home games on Queanbeyan Park, it is an ticipated that increased interest will be shown in the game in that town. One of the finest games seen for some time was that between Queanbeyan and M...
