WAVERLEY DEFEATS LEICHHARDT. [Newspaper Article] — Sunday Times — 10 March 1895

WAVERLEY DEFEATS LEICHHARDT. Quite a close and very exciting termination to the contoat between Lcichhardt and Waverloy at ] the Leichhardt Ovul occurred yesterday. Wliou Warorloy entered upon their second innings they required ouiy 70 rues; CoinieH's first; few overs wore, however, very destructive, and were it not for the vigorous batting of 'i'rickett, who Bcored 20, the locals would probably have achievod an unex pected victory. As it was, Waverley pullod through successfully after losing seven wickots. Thi3 is the Becond success gained by the seasiders, thoir record standing : two wins, threo losses, and three drawn games. .

HOME LESSONS, And the Education System Generally. (TO THE EDITOR OF THE "SUNDAY TIMES.") [Newspaper Article] — Sunday Times — 10 March 1895

HOME LESSONS, And the Edncation System Generally. (to the editor or thh ' Sunday testes. ') Sir, — Tour excellent article in a re cent issue commends itself to thousand of parents in the colony whose children attend public schools. It is just the article I have been looking for for some time — it expresses my idea so nicely. I have read it very attentively, and can honestly say that every word applies with full force to the manner in which our children are treated at our State schools.
