It appears he remained on board the Terara on Saturday night, instead of proceeding to- his destination, and, waking up early on Sunday morning, he by some means fell down the stoke hole. The unfor tunate man's arm was struck by the moving machinery, and was very badly crushed ami torn. The steamer was on her way back to Kempsey at the timer and a-a soon as tho wharf was reached medical assistance was summoned. Dr. Rowe bandaged tho injured member, and Mr. Lancaster was removed to the hospital, where it was found necessary to at once amputate the arm. From latest ac counts we learn the injured man ia- progress- ing favorably towards recovery. Much sym pathy is felt for Mr. Lancaster over the loss of his arm,- as lie is a married man and has six young children. — Macleay Argus ;
