Smith's printing and stationery establishment in Bridge Street, and seriously damaging the block of buildings ocoupied by the P, and O. Company, at the corner of Pitt and Bridge streets. The nature of the contents and the .situation of the building were both favourable to the progress of the lire, and immediately the ularm was received by the Metro politan Fire Brigade, just liefore 2.45 a.m.j Mr. Webb ordered out the whole of the fire-fichting appliances at his ! disposal.
