PUNCH IN PARLIAMENT. FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH, 1866. [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Gazette and Eden District or Southern Coast Advertiser — 24 November 1866

PUNCH IN PARLIAMENT. * Fkidat, November 7th, 1866. {From the Sydney Punch.) Mr Forster asked Mr. Byrnes when he meant to open i the Macleay River? Mr. Byrnes said, owing tothe immense quantity of land of which the river was composed, it would be a work of time. Mr. Egan asked what the Government intended to do with the £120 which Lucas had been kindly taking care | of for them, but wbich he had recently, under strong com pulsion, voluntarily returned. Mr. Eagarsaid, "Oh, ah ! yes, by-the-by,-—it's rather j warm to-day, isn't it ?" j Mr. Egan could not see the force of the explanation.'*1" j Mr. Dignam asked if the Government had been out to j look for the missing Goulburn mail-bags, if they had found them, and if their loss had been in anylray ac- ; counted for ? The Bega Gazette. "Quod petis hic est." SATURDAY, NOVEMBER, 24, 1866 [Newspaper Article] — The Bega Gazette and Eden District or Southern Coast Advertiser — 24 November 1866

JDfje 33ega #ajtttc. " Quod pctis hie est." SATURDAY, NOVEMBER, 24-, 1SGG Mr. Wilson, the present Minister for Lands, met with a most decided vote of censure from the Assembly 011 Tuesday, the 13th inst.jin reference to his policy in the management of-his department, and richly does he deserve it—for ever since Mr, Wilson came into office his whole aim lias seemed to be to defeat the meaning and spirit of the Land Act, and by taking ad vantage of its doubtful wording lie has endeavoured to thwart the objects and in tentions of its framers. The following motion by Mr. E. Ste wart and amended by Mr. Gaerett was carried without a division. A stronger expression of censure upon the individual acts of a single Minister we believe does not stand on record. " Mr. E. Stewart moved that in the opinion of this House all lands conditionally purchased under the Crown Laads Alienation Act of 1851, and abandoned, ought to be again open for conditional purchase. His object wa?, Sfr. Stewart observ...
