Gombarngo, 38, labourer, was committed for trial at tbe next criminal circuit court sittings In May, wben evidence concluded In the Bnnta Police Court last Friday, on a charge that on March 6 lie unlawfully inflicted grievous bodily harm to bis nephew, Vlnce | Gombarngo. The offence is alleged to have been committed in Tiffin Street late on a Saturday, night during a brawl between the. two men. According to evidence both men had been drinking with a man named Boy Brown and a half-caste named Frank Casey before the brawl.

BABY CLINIC TO REMAIN OPEN AFTER PROTESTS TO MINISTER AND GOVERNOR Roma and District Progress Association, formed only last week at a record meeting of residents, this week scored its first big win when it obtained an about fa ce in a departmental decision to dose the Maternal and Child Wei fare Clinic because of staff short ages. News of the proposed closure was made public only last Fri day, barely 48 hours after the formation of the Association through advertisements in The Western Star and over 4ZR. The centre has been maintained lor seven weeks by a relieving sister (Sfster Flint), who last week received Instructions from the Maternal and Child Welfare Departmnet to close the centre and return to Brisbane. With the announcement of the closure, the Association Secretary (Mr. <R.
