Tccsox, February 14, 1877 Editor Citizen: The continued dep redation by Apache Indians in South eastern Arizona, hince lust April; and the very extensive recent raid by them, u-lnch has resulted in the murder of at least eight men and the loss of a large amount of property, induced me to send a brief message to the late Legislative Assembly which caused that body to adopt prompt and, so far as in its power lay, efficient measures to place in my hands the means to restore peace and order, and to give protection to the suf fering citizens of this Apache alllicted .section of the Territory. And for the promptness and unanimity which char acterized the action of the Legislature, the thanks of the people are due that body. To intelligently deal with this question and eflectively cure the evil, it is necessary that a clear underst...

The Citizen. SATURDAY. MARCH'S. 1S77. The weekly course of mining event9 gives certain promise, that in common with the various mining Eeetions throughout the Territory, (anil the Ter ritory is one vast mining camp,) there is a general revival of interest and work in the mining districts adjacent to Tucson. The miner is always alert to the course of events in his line, Mid as carefully as he notes the drift of his pet ledge, he notes the drift of public interest and attention to his particular section. In numerous instances of late, we have noted that men who have apparently for years been holding and working their claim with no particular eflort toward immediate development and market, have unerringly dis covered that their day was approaching and are preparing to catch the breeze. The sails are flapping in the coming, breath of mining life and activity. Our San Francisco letters tell of con stant' increasing attention toward Arizona, and prophesying that as soon as the iron is wed...
