Tho attorneys for the com pany are ox-Senator John M. Thurston of Nebraska, and Samuel J. Crawford, ex-KOvernor of lum ens. The application for leases filed by the Cherokee Oil and Gas com pauy will be followed in a few days by nn application be filed by the attorney for the Bartlesville Oil and Oas company of the Cherokee nation. San Francisco, Cul., Juno 10. Details of the fate of a party of English missionaries nt the hands of cannibals have been received. Missionaries Chalmers, Thomp kius, two other white men and eleven native converts were lured to a native settlement on the island of Conribntm and lini'd up by eight hundred warriors. The Kev. Chalmers, foreseeing their fate, uddressed the savages in their native tongue- While talk iug ho was clubbed to death. The others were also killed. All were cut up aud their flesh sent in baskets to the neighboring villages. A British punitive expedition has since razed every building on the island.
