Nurcmburg, May 13. Tht Nurctnburg Correspondent contains the tallowing:— “ United States 0/ America. —The exertions of the new presidentrif antes Monroe, as he has himself announced, will be particularly directed to make America tw independent of Great 11m tain in respect to its manufactures.— Fur tli is purpose particular encouragement will be given in all the States to industry; the establishment and improvement of manufactures will be encouraged by utl the Government, and assistance given to enterprising persons; for which purpose a part of the surplus of tiie public revenue will be employed. The exertions of the president will doubtless have the. happiest success, as America possesses in an equal—and, in some respects perhaps, an higher degree than England, every thing that is necessary to make aris and industry prosper rapidly. The rich mines of tile finest coals facilitates the erection of steam engines, for which the English manufactories are so greatly indebted for a part of...

IXOBUJA. [Newspaper Article] — The Genius of Liberty — 3 February 1818

IXOBUJA. The Georgia Journal' speaks very positively of the fact, that Spain will not dispose of the Flor-dasto the United States except on receiving six. millions of dollars for them, and making the Mississippi the boundary of her Mexican dominions. It is nonsense to talk of a transfer on such terms. It is further intimated in the same paper, that Spain supports herself in such absurd demands under the assurance that she will not, in any event, have to contend with us single upon England and France for allies. We cannot guess what the former might do, but should be glad to hear that 10,0d0 French troops were sent to Mexico, Venezuela, &c. They would soon close Ferdinand's accounts in those countries. Many believe that thc_acts recently published about Florida were then for the first time officially known to the people. The passage of those laws was hoticed in the letters of Mr. Monroe to Mr. Foster in. 1811, and'the position clehrly taken that the U. States would not pe...
