Byron Jones, candidate for the 48th District Assembly seat, once again pointed out the dangers of California’s narcotic problem last Tuesday and urged voters to "place men in office who will correct the situation.” Speaking at a coffee hour at the home of Miss Gloria Smith, herself a candidate for a seat on the GOP County Central Committee, Jones said that “Approximately 500 addicts compared with 10,000 to 20,000 in California. We have 5000 in correctional institutions. With three times our population, Britain has only a small fraction of the number of addicts. We can do as well as they,” Jones said.

Philippine freedom observed Assembly man George E. Danielson (DriMth) this weak announced he has co-authored House Resolution N. 309 relative to Philippine Sovereignty Day, and that it passed the As* sembly unanimously on May 19. "H R. 309,” Danielson stated, “commends the Philippine Republic and Americans of Philippine extraction on the coming 66th anniversary of their independence. General Emello Agulnaldo. hero of independence in 1898, is specifically cited in the commendatory resolution.” Danielson also stated that a copy of the resolution will be transmitted to the Filipino Community of Los Angeles, Inc.
