Page 4 SOUTHWESTERN TIMES Thursday, May 22, 1947 Bellaire Stages Successful Drive To Clean Up City Hampered by bad weather dur- ing the earlier part of the week, the clean-up, paint-up, beautify campaign proclaimed for Bellaire by Mayor Madison S. Rayburn nevertheless was drawing to an ac- tive close this week with many home-owners taking advantage of added clean-up service to improve their homes and yards. The cam- paign closes Saturday. A constant reminder of the clean-up week has been made by the Bellaire volunteer firemen who are driving one of the fire trucks throughout the city with posters on the sides urging the residents to join in the program. City mowers were used to cut grass and weeds and added trash pick-ups have been ordered during the week by the city council. The clean-up drive is sponsored jointly by the city council and the newly formed Bellaire Improve- ment League.
