m ■ - Wylie Boys Basketball Pirates capture postseason spot By Greg Ford MESQUITE — Wylie head coach David Black spoke two sig- nificant words Friday night follow- ing the Pirates' 48-43 overtime vic- tory at Mesquite Poteet. "We're in," he said. Nothing could have stated the importance of Friday's triumph over Poteet better. The victory, which improved Wylie's district record to 7-2, means the Pirates were headed to the postseason, a goal they had been shooting for since the current crop of Wylie roundballers began playing varsity competition two years ago. They took their lumps then with the hope that the experience would eventually pay dividends. It did just that Friday, when a seasoned Wylie team maintained its poise inside of a hostile Poteet gym. m DENTURE 2006 1 No Charge Consultation Complete Dental Services to Fit Your Budget • Full ft Partial Dentures • Implants • Snap-On Dentures • Palateless • Hookless Partial Dentures • Soft-Lined Dentures • Extractions • General Dentis...

Occasions Thursday, February 23, 2006 - THE SACHSE NEWS - Section A - Page 5 I CCWC by Dixie Dickson, Senior Center Coordinator I returned to a very busy week at the Sachse Senior Center. We had about 40 game players in on Monday morning to play table games and enjoy turkey vegetable soup prepared by Sara DeMolay. It was delicious! Thank you, Sara for stepping up; when I left last week for Kansas, I didn't know how long I would be gone. My mother's passing is part of life. I don't care how old they are. Dixie Dickson you never want to give them up, but my mother would want us to cele- brate her life, not mourn it. She was a wonderful mother, cook and seam- stress. She was the sixth in a fami- ly of nine children born to share- croppers in the Kansas Flint Hills. She made her mark on the world with her kindness, generosity, and caring for the fellowman. After all, both teams were head- ing into the postseason, and a loss would not have hurt the team that much. However, the Pirates did no such thing, instead they put together a fairly solid performance to defeat the Tigers, 51-45, at Royse City High School, and clinched second place in District 11-4A. It was the second time in three games this season that Pirates have beaten the Tigers. Their reward was a trip to Prairiland High School in Pattonville for a bi-district game with Mount Pleasant. That was scheduled for Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., and the results were unavail- able at press time. A Wylie victory in that contest earns an area play...
