We most heartily recommend Wolfe's Schnapps as a pure invigorant, good alike for men, women and even infants. It tones and braces up the system and aids digestion. Ono pound orders are placed under the labels of many of the large bottles. To secure tho genuine article buy a whole bottle, and don't be imposed on by imitations. Wolfe's Schnapps is a well known and well tried stimulant, and waB sold fifty years ago by chemists as a - Tonic. ? . Pyxee School of Arts. TO THE BDITOR OF THR SITOALFIAVEN MEWH. It is true that a public mooting was held early in last year, at which it was decidod to erect the building ; subscrip tions wero invited, and I understand a sufficient sum was collected to warrant the committee at once proceeding to build. It waB confidently anticipated that the hall would be ready for occupancy before meetings were finally prohibited in the schoolroom, and that the people need Buffer no inconvenience from having no place of assembly. Questioned as to the delay, the members of the committee reply that they are only awaiting the co...

Nowra Nuisances. TO THE EDITOR OF THE SHOALHAVEN NEWS. [Newspaper Article] — The Shoalhaven News and South Coast Districts Advertiser — 22 April 1893

Nowra Nuisances. TO TJ1H EDITOR OF THB SHOALHAVEN NEWS. Sir, — A few month's back Nowra boasted of an Inspector of Nuisances, who was very particular that ' little boys should walk round corners,' but I ha?o not heard or seen anything uf him lately. If there is still an Inspector of Nuisances, then all I can say is that the duties of the office are performed in a very perfunctory manner. Last week I visited the School of Arts on one or two occasions and each time I turned the corner of Berry-street, I noticed a most disgusting smell, pre sumably arising from some dead animals on the vacant allotment alongside Mr. Green's old store. I noticed the same thing on Sunday evening last ? Now it is evident the visits of the Inspoctor to back yards, etc., must be very few and far between, otherwise the cauBe of this intolerable stench would have beep re moved long ago. I would be glad if you would inform me what provision has been made for the removal of night-soil. At the time tenders were ...

Payment for Milk by Bssults. Ever siuce buttor factory people arrived at the conclusion that tho regular dead level of so much per gallon all round was as uu fair to soine nuppliers as it was encourag ing ro owners of inferior stock, men of a scientific turn have beeu worrying their brains to discover some method by which the milk which yielded tho most butter could receive the highest price, or, in other words, instead cf paying by the gallon for milk, that the payment might be for the qualities of butter fut delivered in tha funfnrw vnt Trin introduction of the Babcock tester wai a decided advantage, and rendered the work in progross much easier, for the Babcock was simple and cheap. . It was well known that the cream tests were misleading, and when at the Warrnambool shows tho ro sulta given in the following table were arrived at from milk which was undoubt edly pure, being milked the show ground in the presence of official?, the irregularity of tho evidence complefely overcame t...

' Surge ' Writes to us complaining that our Nowra contemporary suppressed the individual scores sent to it of the cricket matoli 'Redfern Cambridge v. Currum beno ' played on Good Friday. He says : — ' As a lover of crioket, and also as an eye-witness of the match in question, I should like an explanation, more especially as the scores of the match, as well as those of one played the following day, were forwarded in detail. The success of the Bay men against the Redfem Cambridge was worthy of note. The Currumbeno men fas stated in the CoUmM of the 5th instant) were disposed of in the first innings for 113 runs. Mr- Gorman's Bankruptcy. A Sydney correspondent writes to a con temporary as follows : — Henry Gorman, of the firm of Hardie and Gorman, has had to file his schedule in the Bankruptcy Court. He is another victim of the land boom. Ho was., largely interested in the Anglo-Australian Company, and he is principally responsible for the building of the Hotel . Australia. A few. years ago, he was the leading man of the city. Every one who was fortunate enough to get in with him felt as if .his fortune was made.
