POULTRY NOTES [Newspaper Article] — The Leader — 5 June 1947

POULTRY NOTES The ormouncement by Mr. Pollard, Minister for Commerce and Agriculture, that Gritain had contracted to buy eggs in shell at an increosed price ol Sd. per dozen until June, 1950, will bring grati- fication to poultry farmers. The previous price of export eggs in 'hnli was 1/8 ii. is now 2/1. This increase is a direct result of re- quests by the A.F.F.A. That those re- sults have borne fruit shows the ability of, ÍKhe Association to make its voice heard when stating its case to the authorities. Consistent efforts over the past two years, coupled with co-opera- tion fro mthe N.S.W. Egg Marketing Board during the latter part of 1946 have justified Mr. Souter's mission abroad. The Prices Eranch and the Depart- ment of Commerce and Agriculture have teen adamant in t heir attitude that the industry could not be granted an increase in the price of eggs because it would bring an influx of people into the industry and .so cause over-production. We malntatii 'titat there is no ca...

AR ARLBERTS MOOSKET MISFIRES ANTI-LEADER MOTION PROVES ANTI-CLIMAX Theres not a doubt, those ratej>ayers who slay away from Liverpool Council meetings are defrauding them- selves of a chance of obtaining at least some value for thc rates paid. Every night there's a show-tragic, disgusting, side-splitting or mysterious, according to your intelligence and mood. Tuesday night's performance was one of the best put on in the past year. Star of the evening was Aid. A. Childs. He moved a motion of which he had given notice a month ago and which should have been dealt with at the meeting of a fortnight ago (only Ailbert wasn't there). The motion was directed at "The Leader" (although Arlbsrt is one ol our staunchest fans on the sly-he has had a special order in for over a year for no less than SIX copies a week!) and in his argument he pulled no punches and allowed no inhibitions re- garding old-fashioned truthfulness bo influence the degree of his invective. We quote (he's a bit lucky t...
