DISTRICT COUNCIL OF BOURKE.   IN pursuance of the powers in me vested, under the charter of Incorpo- ration of the District Council of Bourke, I do hereby give notice that I shall pre- side at a meeting to be holden on Tues- day, the first day of May next, at the hour of twelve at noon, at the Supreme Court House, Melbourne, for the purpose of supplying the vacancies in the said District Council, arising from the retire- ment in rotation of George Frederic Berkeley St. John, John Fitzgerald Leslie Foster, and Robert Williams Pohlman, Esquires, and in case of a poll being demanded at the said election, I do hereby name Sa- turday, the fifth day of the same month of May, at the Royal Hotel, in Mel- bourne, aforesaid, such polling to com- mence at nine of the clock in the fore- noon, and close at four of the clock in the afternoon of the same day. TIMBER BRIDGE.   TENDERS will be received until noon of Saturday, the 5th May next, from parties willing to contract for the erection of a timber bridge over the Coli- ban River, on the road from Mount Macedon to the Loddon District. MELBOURNE MARKETS. April 22. Grain—No change in the markets took place last week. The following are the prices current, viz—Wheat 3s. 3d. to 3s. 6d. ; Oats 2s. 3d; Barley 2s. 3d. to 2s. 6d. per bushel. Flour.—First quality £10 ; seconds £9 per 2000 lbs. Hay £2 10s. to £2 15s. per ton. Potatoes scarce and £6 per ton.

STOCK MARKET. SALES EFFECTED DURING THE PAST WEEK BY MESSRS BEAR AND SON. Fat Cattle—The supply this week, was about equal to the demand. Good quality, fat cows and heifers, sold at auction at from 52s to 57s each, or about 9s per 100 lbs; bullocks ditto, (not good), from 50s to 57s each, or about 7s 6d per 100 lbs. Sheep.—Fat wethers are scarce. A lot of fair at quality sold 6s 6d each, or about 1 ¾d per lb; inferior ditto, at 5s each. Store wethers sold at 4s each. Sheep with good Stations, are in demand. Mixed Cattle sell at about 15s each. Pur- chasers are scarce. Working Bullocks were more enquired for this week; good teams are worth about £8 per pair. Horse Stock—Useful hacks sold this week at from 8 to 10 guineas each; unbroken colts   and fillies in low condition, 3 years old at from £3 to £5 each ; draft horses, in low condition, from 11 to 13 guineas each, and rough hacks, from £5 to £7 each. Superior hacks are in demand.
