From the Front. [Newspaper Article] — Donald Times — 5 May 1916

| From the Front. ! Mrs. M. li- Morgan has received a letter from Private Sydney Pace',' dated Heliopolis March 25. Private Pace writes as followsFancy having been here for five months an"1 Seeu no fighting ! Goodness knows when we will. But I think there is something doing now. Petr haps our troops will have landed in some other laud, ere this reaches you. I hope I atn not still here then. Most of the troops have been shifted out of Zeitoun and Helio polis. and transferred to Ismalia,. Tcl-el-Kebir, and Serapeura. The latter place is a few miles the other side of the canal. Wonder if the 'lurks will ever again attack the canal ? They will get a very warm reception if they do. Banaja, a I place some 12 miles out of Cairo, is ' one of the most interesting places here. It is here that the Nile waters are kept back by means of locks. The irrigation system is wonderful. Instead of the Nile flood waters ruuning to waste, they are conserved by means of these locks. If the Nile fails to ri...

Correspondence LOCAL RETURNED SICK AND WOUNDED. (TO THE EDITOR.) [Newspaper Article] — Donald Times — 5 May 1916

Correspondence LOCAL RETURNED SICK AND WOUNDED. (To Tnii Editor.') Sir,—Kindly allow rue a small space in your paper to advocate what I think wcuH be a good idea for raising funds for our sick and wounded soldiers. I would suggest that the Donald Shire Council be asked to run the Show this year foi that fund. The Donald people might work up a bazaar for the'same time and run side shows at the gathering, letting everything &o to the fund. Very few would take the prize money, but return it to the fund If it was worked up with spirit it would go. If we did not want it for our boys, then we could help others. Hoping some one will move | iti the matter, I remain, yours &c., ONE WILLING TO HELP. Donald, 3 | 5 | 16.
