Christmas: Birth of Christ Letter To The Editor Has it ever passed through your mind that Christmas isn't all running around in circles deciding what gifts to buy for family and friends, digging decorations out of the attic, or last minute shopping sprees? Stop and think about what Christmas symbolizes. Consider the inside meaning of Christmas; do you rentier".ber hearing about an almighty person by the name of Jesus Christ? His name should be the foremost figure in your mind at this time of the year. After all, Christmas is the celebration of His birth. Now, hundreds of years later, society is taking the star of Bethlehem and turning it into a dollar sign. Christmas has seemed to have lost its reason for existing. It is now nothing less than Christmas lists, crowded department stores, and traffic jams. However, this is only one side of the issue. What about the businessman's point of view? When asked what comes to his mind at the first thought of Christmashe will undoubte...

Winter Term classes will then commence with the first period class on Monday, January 8,1973, officially ending with the third period class on Saturday, March 17. Students should plan to meet with their advisers on the day PRECEDING their actual registration. All students are responsible for setting up a mutually satisfactory time for such a meeting with their adviser prior to leaving for the term break. At this meeting with the adviser, it is hoped that several things might be accomplished: l. Student should look over the "adjusted" pre-registration work sheet and note any changes in time or any class closings. At this time the number 2 Card should be prepared indicating those classes and sections for which the student hopes to enroll. 2. H Student Action Needed NOW I The Task Force report has been approved, the wheels are turning and Behrend is finally on the move. The administration and faculty have worked on details of the plan devoting many hours of their time for the good of Behrend. The Faculty Senate is now in the process of establishing numerous new faculty positions and course implementations. It is now time for the students at Behrend to get into the act. Student input is needed for course implementatioa Student opinions are needed as to their feelings about Behrend as a four year institution. The administration has carried most of the load in planning Behrend's future, but students are what make the campus. Your opinions will be heard, evaluated and perhaps incorporated into the future plans for Behrend. There has been much talk lately about apathy at Behrend. Hopefully this apathy will not block student response to the approval of the Task Force report. There are still numerous obstacles to overcome bef...

Bntramural_'s Begin 4th Week by Dave Lojewski Sports Writer The fourth week of Intramural Basketball has begun and with it the guys are starting to show which teams are the potential powerhouses. In the Dorm LeagueSuper Fly Inc. remains on top with a pair of convincing victories. They demolished Minerva's Minosa 100 to 35 and overpowered Fondling Tools 64 to 19. Leading the way for Super Fly was Robb Johnson in the "century" game by scoring 49 points. He scored enough points alone to beat the opponent. Also contributing in that contest were Bob Britton and "Sparky" Jefferson with 18 and 16 points respectively. In their other outing, Lamar Macintosh paved the way with 25 points. Bob Britton added 18-to give them a convincing triumph. Other exciting games that have been played were Fourth Floor Niagara defeating Custer's Cavelry 34 to 29; Seagram's 8 crushed Fondling Tools 41 to 12; The Horny Dozen Minus Two overcame Custer's Cavelry 43-24; The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straigh...

Winter Weekend Poses Problems For Frosh Class by Lynne Philips Managing Editor The Freshman class called a meeting asking all freshmen students to attend. And unbelievably there was such a tremendous turnout I couldn't find my way around. Of course anyone would be lost in a lobby of three freshmen. Doesn't this class of 655 students know how to read. Signs were posted in all three dorms. Surely more than three students read those signs. Some of you may be wondering, if signs were only placed in the dorms, how could a commuting student know of the meeting. Not only were signs announcing the meeting in the dorms. They were posted in all the buildings; taped onto doors; and a huge sign was in the RUB mailroom. Doesn't anyone take notice? Assuming freshmen students do know how to read, why don't they attend the meetings? Is it because the students don't care? If this is so, then why do they complain that Behrend doesn't have enough activities on the weekend to keep students from...

B-Bal! Season Opens The Behrend basketball team opens their 1972-73 season Saturday, December 2 against Allegheny College of Meadville. History will be made Saturday when Behrend Campus's basketball team pledges competition with four year colleges, a stiff step-up in competitive athletics at Behrend, and a status of recognition in the Erie area. In a recent interview with the Erie Times, Head Coach Roger Sweeting expressed his optimism of the upcoming season, "At our size, it is going to be tough for us to play the running game we prefer, but many of these guys have played for a winner so often that I don't expect them to be satisfied with less.'' Coach Sweeting has already been crippled with pre-season setbacks, the absence of Steve Johnson, and an injury to last year's co-captain and third leading scorer, Marshall "Ike" Burnett. Coach Sweeting hopes that he can find "equal" replacements in his reserve line-up. As of yet, Sweeting will rely on proven talent in co-captains Mik...
