TflffüEFgfiLICAN. LOCAL DEPARTMENT. THURSDAY, APRIL . 1861. Township Elect!)!. The election in this, (Center) township. on Monday, passed off quietly. The whole Copperhead ticket waa elected by about the tame majority they had laat fall. The Union men made little or no effort. Had they done to the Copperhead majority might have been reduced over 100, as they undoubtedly polled very nearly every vote they had while the whole vote cant ia nearly 200 leas than it was last fall. At least twe thirds of thes who stayed away from the polls were Union men. The Copperheads also carry Union, Green, Bourbon, German, Pulk, and West township e. The Union ticket was defeated in Bour bon township by the carelessness ef our i friends, no effort having been made to bring out oor voters, while every Copperhea l was out. as we warnei them before band would be the case.
