In his last litter out of Invincible Prin cess 2 d 127109 , a daughter of Invincible Masterpiece , are two boar pigs which are the likeliest youngsters we have ever had on the place . We have never seen such width between the ears on any B...

My herd boar , Lee s Artful Duke 119628 , bred by J . W . "The Berkshire is My Hobby . " [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 November 1910
The Berkshire is My Hobby . Culleoka , Tenn . The Berkshire World , Springfield , 111 . Gentlemen : —Everything is beginning to look brown and ashy except the pigs . They are getting blacker and slicker every day . I guess that is due to the new corn and pumpkins they are getting . I have raised the largest crop of pigs this spring that I have ever had , but they have begun to leave Village Stock Farm for all parts of the country here lately . About three weeks ago I received an order from far away California for a Rival s Champion boar and two Artful Belles Chap , pion sow pigs . That is my banner order for so far a distance . I give The Berkshire World credit for that order . This is Wednesday night and I have received four orders this week from four different parties , so you see , at that rate , I have no kick coming . All that I am afraid of is that the pigs will give out before the demand does . I am proud of my home trade . One of my old customers , Mr . W . P . Ridley , one ...

Roycroft Berkshires . Sidnaw , Michigan , The Berkshire World , Springfield , 111 . Gentlemen : —Old Father Time seems to be a very elusive sort of an old gentleman ; last month we were at our State Fair , this month home and Dust as busy , or a little more so . Consequently not much from us now . The Roycroft Berkshire herd is getting what It has needed badly for a long time and wfrat VOuId be a mighty good thing for some other herds , viz .: a thorough house cleaning and it is no immunity bath either . Everything that is not right has got to go , no favorites . We have just shipped one carload to the Chicago market and more are going as soon as ready . Perhaps we ought not to have told this , but to us it looks as if it were more shame to keep stock around that is not all that it should be for breeding , than to sell it ; and say , we really have a better bunch of goo * stuff than we thought and you probably have heard us remark that we did not consider our stock so bad after all ...

New Selling Plan a Success [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 November 1910
New Selling Plan a Success The new selling plan recently inaugurated by the Detroit Engine Works has proved a tremendous success and one worthy of encouragement by every engine buyer . Their new 15-days trial proposition makes the buyer the sole judge of the merits of the engine and it is up to him whether he keeps it or not . There is no joker in the offer of the Detroit Engine Works . They enter into an ironclad agreement to refund every dollar paid them for the engine if the engine is not satisfactory in the minutest detail . The wisdom of this plan is being shown only too well by the large number of sales of the new Detroit Kerosene Engine . It gives the buyer more confidence in the engine and in the company selling it . The only way a buyer can tell if an engine is adapted to his needs is by trying it out . He has a certain task he wishes an engine to perform . If he has an opportunity of putting the engine up against the task and watching it work , he knows whether it will do ...
