EDITOR CIEFr': The politicians, had possession of Washington last night with a veu geance. The elections in Ohio and( Iowa were the great topics of interest and discussion." Of course Iowa was expected- to go Republican, but the size of its majoiity 'was a surprise. Tahe attention of the people was at once called to the fact that Senator Allison had taken hold of the cain paign more vigpr'pptly than usual, and that he had induced Senator Blaine and others also to take a hand. Senator Allison is a favorite here, even outsido of his party, and this victory points to him as a strong man, with a national reputation tlat 'is sure to griiwv upon a solid foun'da tion.
