They are now preparing to vote more taxes and build a new school house. They realize that the only way to open up a bright future and make their community one of the leading communities in the parish is to educate their girls ani, boys. For the past few years the tendency has been to move from the country to the cities and towns. What has caused this? It is because the cities and towns give better opportunities for acquiring an education. Many a young man and young lady has left the good old farm simply because they could prepare them selves better for life. Now the patrons of Pleasant Hill community hope to draw them back to the old homestead oand give them the necessary qualifications that will enable them to take a respectable stand by the side of those who have grown up with full opportunities for a college education. ...

A few moments passed and it grew dark, when a lot of' hounds came running by after a fox. This attracted the attention of the preacher's audience, and all of them, except an old crip pled fellow, ran off after the dogs. "It ain't no tthe!" said the preacher. , "Yah it is, too," returned the old crippled man. "Tha allus catch 'em when pap's old hounds are along." The preacher decided that he could not do any good there and left. He stopped at a house to stay over night, where a young couple lived. He asked them if they had ever heard of Christ, and they said, "No, we haven't." "Do you want to go to heaven?" the preacher asked again. "Well," I don't know; I've been trying to get John to move.
