THE DAILY DISPATCH. RICHMON D . VA.~ Tawdtjr Moraine, February I, 1853. THE ORANGE AND ALEXANDRIA EX TENSION. The Norfolk Beacon, a few days ago, appealed to the "friends of Virginia" in the legislature, upon so-r.e point connected with the air line railroad through the Eastern Shore. We do not recollect what it was, nor is it important at present. What struck us in 'he mat ler, was the appeal to an obsolete class of individuals—to a class which possesses no mfl jence, if it even continues to exist. Una our friend of the Bea on been asleep, and does he wake up (o think that the world is now, us it was when he first fell into a doze ? Does he not see the imminent risk he runs of being classed with Kip Van Winkle, and other reverend dreamers of the olden time? Has he not studied the carrent of legislation sufficiently to see that Virginia is not its principal object ? Does he not observe that the so-called Virginia Legislature meets, principally, to riass laws for the benefit of Balti...

THE DAILY DISPATCH. RICH MO N P . V A.i W«4Mi4ay Moralif, Fefc. 2, 1843. SUBSERVIENCY TO NORTHERN CITIES. Mr. Flournoy of Prince Edward, who took his aeat in the place of Mr. Wilson resigned, will be voted a bore by a certain interest in the House if he does not mend his ways. He had the assurance the other day to tell the House without any circumlocution, that they were destroying the confidence ot capitalists, who might otherwise be disposed to invest in Virginia improvements, by their inccnsistcnt sys tern of legislation, which allowed no one work to become remunerative befoi e another was constructed which was to tap and drain it.— He even went further than this, and fell foul of the favorite scheme of the day, that of making Virginia a colony erf Baltimore, and as if to put the cap-stone to his rudeness, he asked what had become of that opposition to subserviency to Northern cities, which so lately set the patriotism of members in a blase?
