ALEXANDRA SHIRE COUNCIL. September Meeting ENGINEER'S REPORT. Mr. Thompson reported: Sanitary Services, Alexandra and Thornton (G. L. Lister and S. C. Lis ter).-Work is satisfactory. At the depot for the past two years sand has beei used, and 200 cubic yards have been carted in both of the years. It is recommended that after 1st Octo ber, 1950, another 200 yards be cart. ed to the depot. The cost will be £60. Brjdge over Rocky Crossing, Ruffy Tetip Road (W. J. Free and H. J. Fox).-I saw the contractor, who is now free to do the work, and he said he would be starting the work.-Pre. sident Davy recommended the work being started. Doyle's Road Extension to Corn wall's.-This work is well advanced. A small 'dozer was hired to do the rough work. Maroondah Highway at Kanumbra. -The formation work gravelling on this job is complete. There remains a concrete end to be placed on a cul. vert near McGuiguan's, which will be done during the summer. A full meeting of delegates met at Seymour recently to discuss the possi i bility of the Waranga-North-East Football League running a competi e tion for second eighteens. Mr. Kenny, the district councillor of the Country Football League, Mr. Dowell, secre tary of the Goulburn Valley League, n and Mr. Pearson, secretary of the t Central Goulburn Valley League, were present, Mr. Kenny stated that to raise the standard of country football, second eighteens (wherever possible) were n necessary. c Many questions relating to seconc. VICTORIAN PRODUCERS' CO OPERATIVE COMPANY LIMITED. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. The annual general meeting of shareholders of Victorian Producers' Co-operative Company Limited was held at the company's head office, V.P.C. Building, 578-584 Flinders lane, Melbourne, on Tuesday, 26th Septem ber. Mr. J. P. Webb, Chairman of Directors, presided. In reviewing the operations for the year the chairman said the business of the company had been further con solidated and expanded. The company continued to show pro. gress in its woolbroking activities, the quantity handled being 60,108 bales, or 12.3 per cent. over last season's re ceivals, which up till then had consti tuted a record. The company again paid a 15 per cent. rebate of commis sion to shareholders and 10 per cent. to non-shareholders who favored it with their support. Football Club and Junior Football Club was proposed by -Mr. Freitag and responded to by Mr. A. Rice, . ;'Trophies were presented as fol lows : Best and Fairest, Phil Cre ton; most improved player, Jack Mahoney; best clubman, Bob Rennie : most consistent players Gordon Long, R. Donald and B. Williamson. No decision could be reached so each received a trop hy. Best utility player, S. Long. Trophies for Juniors - Best and fairest, Eric Taylor; most im proved, Ray Nicholas ; best club man, Bryce Daniels. Each re cipient suitably responded. Proceedings came to a close at 10.30, and one and all considered die night as one of the best.
