The public meeting convened by the   Mayor for last Tuesday night in the School of Arts was poorly attended, whether from disinclination to give assist ance to the distressed starving people, or from the cold night it is hard to say The Mayor occupied the chair, and des pite the meagre attendance it is satisfa tory to know that a fair contribution in money and kind was forthcoming. The MAYOR, in opening the meeting re gretted the smallness of the attendance on such an important, occasion.
