He was attended to at once, but when Dr. Noel Kirkwo0d arrived, life was extinct. Deceased was forty three years of age, and leaves a wite and family of five, who are deserv ing of all sympathy. This is the first t;me an entertainment otf' this description' bus ta^en place in Scarborough, and perhaps that had a lot to do with the mustering of the large attend ance. Unlike most tournaments, the competitors were drawn at the riner side, and this has a tendency *to make the bouts more vigorously con ? tested, as none of the lads coinpet ing know who they are to meet till the last minute, and competitors have not the opportunity of ''getting their heads together,' as has been the case when heatB have been drawn a week or so previous to the appointed . time of the contests. There was a lot of unnecessary delays on Friday last, such as lads arguing as to weights; etc., which should be done away with, but, on the whole, there was a good night's sport.
