BYRON BAY IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION IMPORTANT MATTERS DISCUSSED The monthly meeting of the Association took plana on Tuesday evening in the Literary Institute. Mr. S. J. Dening presided. In discussing the names of the different streets and the quandry peo ple were in to know one street from another, it was moved by Mr Moulton and seconded by Mr. Austin that at Jic interscctiou of streets, a finger post bo erected with the name of the btreet thereon. Re the £4000 grant, it was moved by Mr. Moulton and seconded by Mr. Rnnhnm tlint tl,n .innrf no uy -tho Council's Engineer, bo accept ed by the Association. Regarding a wicket gate for the Shirley Street level crossing, the As sociation's secretary was instructed to communicate with the Railway De partment. The President referred to a report of a meeting of the Lismore Chamber of Commerce and the disparaging re marks of its members towards Byron Bay, and remarked that apparently Byron Bay is not entitled to protest against other districts ...

TENDER ACCEPTED BRUNSWICK BRIDGE. LOCAL TENDERER FAILS. The tender of D. Burke (South MUywilluinbah), £1049/5/10, for tho consti.uction of a footbridge across the South Arm of the Brunswick River at Brunswick Heads, was ac cepted on Tuesday by Byron Shire Council. The footbridge will connect tho main part of tho town with the surf ing beach., Two tenders were received, the oth or b ing J. Slapp, for £1196/5/-. The engineer's estimate cost was £1016. It was stated the bridge was to be erected before next holiday season. On the motion of Crs. Banner and Bower, it was resolved to strike a rate of Id. in the £ on Brunswick Heads urban area to ropay loan interest and principal. The cost will be borne as follows: £300 Government grant, £700 10% and £45/5/10 from the council's general fund;

Berry) reported to the meeting of the Municipal Council on Wednesday that the output for tho fortnight was Mul lumbimby feeder 9,330 units; Byron feeder 28,710 units., Reporting on rural lines, Mr. Berry said the high tension and low ten sioa line and transformer to Mr. James Bower was put into service on Sunday.
