PRIZE MONEY FQR SHOW A RECORD Beccrd prize money totalling £700 baa been allocated for the Roma, Show, to be staged by the Western Queensland Pastoral and Agricultural Association on May 4 and 6. The opening day, a Wednesday, has been gazetted a public holiday in Soma and the Bungil Shire. The show society's secretary (Mr. L. Miller) said yesterday that early in dications were that this year's show would prove a record one in every way. He appealed to intending exhibitors to make early entries to assist sub-com mittees in their preparations. Mr. Miller said that prize money had been increased because of rising COBtB. The usual annual "face lift"'of the grounds and buildings would be com mencing next week, when necessary re pairs would' be carried out, the grounds cleaned up and the horse ting given special attention.

WALLUMBILLA (From Our Own Correspondent) Muggleton Rodeo and Camp draft was held last Saturday, and although the weather was on the hot side the day's proceodings passed off without a hitch. The whole committee worked co operatively with Mr. A. Allen, pre sident and Mr. B. Mansfield, aecre tary. The appointments were all in good order, with a new receiving yard a Leature. The cattle provided for the occas ion were in splendid condition, and tested out the stockmen, horses and bullock riders. Mr. Peter Smith was the judge, and hrn decisions were well received. He said that with few exceptions, the competitors gave a very good de monstration of stocltwork. Mr. C. G. Arnold, of Homa, supplied a public address system and the Homo Ambulance was in attendance, al though not in any instance required to give first aid. SAN FRANCISCO DISASTER RECALLED . Last week when a sharp earth tremor jarred San Francisco, office buildings swayed, and chandeliers swung as much as Bix inches, but no injuries were reported. The tremor lasted for 30 seconds, mid experts with seismographs plated its centre an the Sun Andreas Fault, the giant cleavage that separates Oregon from California.
