His ability is undoubtel, and that he holds the confidence of his charges is shown by the manner in which his stirring speeches are received on training nights and, Saturdays.

Althougfh"'the strong Whittlesea Cuib fielded oiily twelve men the disparity ini humbers was not noticeable on 'the small ground. In fact, it appeared to be an advantage as the free Panton Hill players were' constantly spoiling and retarding their own team mates' play., Weather conditions, militated against good football and theire )vas niuch congested play. The visitors' better kicking and working revealed the weakness of Panton Hill in this di rection. The ;first quarter found the home team cqnstantly attacking but al though they wvere first to score they found the Whittlesea defende .hard to pierce. Firiston, in the sticks was almost impregnable. Bromage, of Panton Hill, perhaps' the strongest man in the team, led off repeatedly but the goals were hard to get, es pecially with sweeping showers- of rain imaking con...

ENGINEER'S REPORT [Newspaper Article] — Eltham and Whittlesea Shires Advertiser — 14 June 1940

ENGINEER'S REPORT The following report was submit ted- to the Whittlesea :Council by the Shire Engineer (Mr. H. Griffiths) MAIN- ROADS .Epiing road through the township is consolidating under traffic. Main Whittlesea Road. - Re sheeting at Bundoora is nearing completion. Following the excellent results on the Epping road of wet ting -crushed rock in the trucks ue fore spreading, the work was carried out this way on the main Whittlesea Road. The contractor's truck drivers however required 3d. per ton as an extra to compensate for loss of time adding water. A piece of road at the south end was dry spread and the difference between this piece and the wet spread rock is obviously going to pay the extra 3d. for reduced main. tenance. A supplementary direction sign 'To Melbourne' has been erected on the main Whittlesea Rd at Shotter's Road, Mernda. Work has commenced on the re alignment of the curve at South Morang Church corner, and is pro ceeding. Wallan Road. - Excavation and forming o...
