PROPOSED COTTON FACTORY; A special meeting of the Murray Bridge Progress Association was held in the Murray Bridge institute on Tuesday, March 22, when the presi i-'tit (Mr. F, Jenkins) occupied hce chair and there was a representative attendance. The secretary submitted the report of Mr. 'Bullivan op tlje clothing factory iii iiness of Messrs. Bower & Co. Ltd., Adelaide, which it had been suggested should be taken over in the event of the proposed cotton factory at Murray Bridge being established. After discussion It was resolved to request Mr, Sullivan to forward cer tain specific information asked for, and further consideration of the report was adjourned till the next meeting.

SUCCESSFUL EUCHRE AND DANCE. A euchre party and dance was held iu the Institute on Taursday, March 17th. The halt which-was tastefully decorated for the occasion, presented j a gay appearance. The prizes for the euchre were kindly presented by Mrs. John Murphy, and Mr. M. P. Larkiu, The ladles' prize was won by Mrs. M. O'Loughlin, and the gents by Mr, P. Byrth. 1 ae music for the dancing was supplied by Messrs, Ray son (pianist) and Zllm (violinist). An excellent supper was provided by the ladies of the Church of Qdr Lady of Mercy, under the supervision of Mrs.. J. Neagle, and Misses Green. The i secretarial dixies, were ably carried out by Mr, C. JJ. Murphy, and the sue-! cess of the entertainment is due In a great measure, to his untiring efforts.

Martin, of Mount Barker; was tbe victim of painful accident, which might easily have had fatal results. She was thrown from "'the high seat of the trolly by an unexpected movement on the part of the horses, and In fall ing, put her hands out in front, taking ber weight op them. The wrists, however, werje unequal to the sudden strain, and both were fractured. She retained bar presence of mind, and celled to one of her daughters, whom she sent home for a car, and after painful waiting was brought to the doctor for treatment, la addition to breaking both wrists, Mrs. Martin sustained facial and body abrasions, but is now progressing favorably. She was very fortunate in falling at the apot ahe did. for all around were rough and "spiky" stumps and sticks, which might easily have caused her death.
