The republicans had stretched a banner . with the name of Hayes and Wheeler -^across Cedar street from some poles erect- '*'•*ed four years ago to ilo service for Grant, On Sunday morning the banner was found torn and cut in pieces and thrown into 'the bay. At tiiis outrage .-the .republicans were justly very -indignant, and so ex- pressed themselvesj and immediately be- gan the construction of another.
