Mackinaw Telephone System. —Mackinaw Enterprise:—The Mackinaw exchange of Mutual Telephone company is now in service with thirty' phones. All these are-tn town, and thirty more will he connected as soon as line can be built. A laige number of new 'phones are being put in which will raise the number on the sjbtem to 450 or more." Of these, about J-15 will be connected with the Hopedale, exchange, and 250 with Minier. A lino Is being built to Delavan, and a first-class iron metallic toll line will be maintained between Delavan and Dloomlngton. The Tromont Independent system o' A. J. Davis has jubt been connected with tho Hopedale exchange by a metallic toll line. Tho independent systems seem to be working together to get good service.

Work on Colfax School House. —Work on the new Colfax school building was suspended a few days ago because of the decision to use some stone in the foundation. The outside of the outer walls will bo rock faced Bedfoid stone from the ground to the top of the basement story, about four feet. Stock stono has been ordered to sa\e time, and workmen from tho quarry will joint and lay It. The stone is cipected In a day or two. The additional cost is $1,250. Brick Is used from the concrete foundation to tho ground, for the upper walls and all the Inside walls. The dirt is being banked up to the grade line while the masonry work is suspended. Tho Joists have ai rived and bricks are coming every day.
