O. W. McRAWWIB . Uditor. a MONROE. LA.. JANUARY 21, 1870. S The Iast i Dtch. s It has been the custom, and is yet, with Republican editors in this State, whether * with, or without brains, to designate the Democrats who have persistently opposed and denounced Radical corruption and misrule, as Bourbons, Last Ditchers, &c. What offense the Democrat is guilty of r who:hba adhered strictly to his principles and telt he could not in honor yield his opinions and rights to Radical keeping, we have never been able to ascertain with satiathtory certainty; but the fact that the Radicals have hurled at such Democrats the meanest phrase in their vocabulary, and stigmatised them as "Last Ditchers," is proof conclusive that, in the Radical mind at least, a persistent, out-and-out Demo cpt tis. not only a sorry politician, but is unworthy of puble confidence. It Is, per haps, not intended to charge him with rob bing hen roasts, as a great many Republi cans do nocturnally, nor with bigamy, brib...
