HAINAN'S HEWAKD. This mine, in Avhich for a long time little has been done s.i\*o sinking for Avater, has at length a fair supply. At a depth oi: 2v~-£t a vein oc quartz carrying u'j:i- v jrynius ana oiotciics or coarse gold was mot with, and at the same time a heavy influx ot Avater av:is experienced. For some little time enough to drill Avith has been trickling into the sbaft. but it Avns not until Friday evening that anything like a supply Avas met- with. The quantity making can hardly be estimated as yet, but it is' more than sxiivbient to run a very big condenser. It is being baled, but unfovhmatelv no pro vision ha-; been made for storing the water which, is for the time being allowed- to g/- to Avaste. An attempt is uoav being made to measure the inflow, and ii: it is sufficient it is - probable that some method will be adopted for treating thy immense bodies of ore in sight iu the mine. West Australians. [Newspaper Article] — Kalgoorlie Miner — 2 December 1895

West Australians. I am reaily; quite surprised- at my own penetration. The market for WJest Australians, to which- 1 directed- cheerful attention last week, is now widening, and while everyone concerned is anxious to prevent a foolish rush to buy, it is bc c.oniiiig evident that speculators will ??'find their opportunities in Kangaroos. I advised a purchase of Menzies 6'Dris colls some weeks ago, since when thev have more than doubled their price ; and ] .may also claim some credit for my suggestions to buy Haiman's True Blues when they were quoted at a con siderably lower price. I look upon these two shares as being promising of further development. There are many oppor tunities in Westralians, but they vary from day to clay, and it is necessary to understand that they are not as yet speculative. It is as well to keep for the most part to the better-known -shares, and especially to the exploration Vompanies, which arc likely to pay very big dividends so long as the boom'iu the colo...
