EXPENDITURE "NOT JUSTIFIED" [Newspaper Article] — The Cumberland Argus — 13 September 1950

EXPENDITURE "NOT JUSTIFIED" .Shortage of stiff ruled out xany possibility of Council open ing a. branch office .at North mead for the receipt of elec tricity accounts, Councillor L. C. Turton told Baulkharn Hills Shire Council meeting. Council was considering a re quest foiP provision of the office from the Northmead Progress Association. The Shire Clerk (Mr. Hain) said use made of the office set up there previously had not justified its existence, and that the scheme generally, had proved a "flop." iMr. Hain also pointed out that residents of Dural, Kellyville or Kenthurst, were equally entitled to, these facilities. Expenditure necessary ni set ting up and maintaining an office in each of these districts, however, even on one day, a week, was not justified. .

New Suburb For Holroyd? [Newspaper Article] — The Cumberland Argus — 13 September 1950

New Suburb For Holroyd ? .lollowing mushroom growth of private and Housing Commission homes in Wentworthville South area, a new suburb, with full postal facilities, may be established there. This was revealed in a special report ;to Holroyd Council by the Town Clerk (Mr. P. A. Arnett). Mr. Arnett said the P.M.G. Department had re cently expressed its will ibgness to establish an un official post office in Went- . worthville South. However, the Department was uncertain where future shopping centres would develop, and, under the circumstances, was reluct ant to erect a permanent post office building. The Department was pre pared to consider recom mendations from Council for naming the new suburb, if an unofficial post office was established. 'In view of difficulty in forecasting where the shop ping centre will develop, the Inspector for Postal Services, Mr. McKimm, has suiggested that the-matter, be left in abeyance for a - time," Mr. Arnett said. Council referred Mr. Ar nett's report...
