SYDNEY. Wednesdav. Marnli 8. I The sum of £20,000 lias been received or promised to defray the expenses of shipping to London an experimental cargo of meat frozen by Mort's process. The Melbourne contributions are expected to largely increase before the list closes. The San Francisco steamer Collina is to be detained to allow the Suez correspondence to be answered. The Colonial Secretary opened the debate on the second reading of the Education Bill this evening. Thursday, March 9. The San Francisco mail arrived this morn ing. Its news are mostly anticipated.

Wednesday. March 8. /Before tTie Police Magistrate. \ J. V. Graham applied for a prohibition order to irevent publicans and storekeepers supplying James Friday, March 10. (Before the Police Magistrate.) Mrs. Wilson was summoned for using insulting and abusive language to William Batzloff. William Batzloff deposed that he was passing   Mrs. Wilson's house, when that " lady" accosted   him, and expressed her opinion of him in language abounding with sanguinary adjectives. The com plainant's evidence was corroborated by Constable M'Donald. After several witnesses were examined for the defence, the Police Magistrate fined defendant 10s., with £1 Is. professional costs, and 5s. costs of Court: in default, fourteen days in Roma GaoL He also strongly advised defendant not to appear   before him again.
