ArPPt irNri the Russian naval officers are not. giiig to let the fame gained by tlie Doggor Bank outrage; during the war with Japan, dio out for wrant of 'repetition 'of that hysterical action. This time, tlhe Czar of Russia while on a' visiting cruise had a cordon of. pro tecting warships whose zeal for his safety so far. outran their discretion that they fired upon a British. steam. boat that happened to be withinT firing: distance. YEA TRADES V ALEXANDRA TRADES. [Newspaper Article] — Alexandra and Yea Standard and Yarck, Gobur, Thornton and Acheron Express — 2 July 1909

YEA TRA-DES V ALEXANDRA TRADES. Teams representing above clubs met on the Park, on Wednesday last, Yea as usual being half a dozen short. Even the senior club has never yet brought a fill team to Alexandra. Ready players were found. to fil up the blank in the visitors' team. Mr J. flosken umpired thematch and a very fair game resulted. As usual, "all hands and the cook" were on the ball and reminded me very forcibly of a match I played in "1876, at South Warenambool, against a team of aboriginals from the Framlingham blacks' htatlon. N. Stillman capltained the locals, his greatest troubles were with the "small fry," they would not keep their hands off, the neck hold being one of their favorites; and again he could not set his men to remain in their places. The result was his aide was "woppoed" easily--53 points to 30.. Six or eight of the visiting team diLd most of the work and nice clean play it was, too. For Alexandra, W. Tash, N. Deep, deep douvu went the Red and UBlaeb,.but not with seoh a bump as when they "rst met the Criek. ,They looked ohirpy, nevertheless. The bell sounded and the teams took the field. During the Arst half the Magpies were all in, al though Alexandra made a desperate effort to score they could not rub acquaintance with the sticks. Thl ground was heavy sad in places water was lying about, still players plodded round the green award ploughed land, which caused them to roff like a heavy-weight politician after his train. By the time the game was cover they all looked as if they had had enough. When the shades of night had fallen, the moon epeped through a cluster of clouds and saw a nest of magpies feed log off the worms. "This is better than football," it hoard them sigh.
