Local News. A meeting was held at the Balwyn Hotel, Box Hill, on Friday evening last, to con sider the question of competing for a trophy in that district. The following clubs were represented, viz.: Surrey Hills, Nor wood, Doncaster, Blackburn, Box Ilill, Mit cham, Ringwood, and Fern Tree Gully. The Lilydale anl Canterbury clubs were not represented, although invited. Mr. Meader, junr., was elected chairman, and after explaining the onjects of the meeting, Dr. Showman pr0posed "That the aforemen   tioned clubs compete for a trophy during the forthcoming season," which was carried unanimously. After considerable discussion as to forming an Eastern District Junior     Cricket Association, the delegates accepted the kind offer of Mr. Bright, of this paper, to contribute a trophy of the value of £5 5s., to be known as "'The Reporter Trophy."
