A Uniform Breeder No better sire than the above mentioned boar has ever been used at Sunny-: side Farm , Lamine , Mo . I have used such great boars as Lord Robin , Lord Lee and Cock Robin ,, but for a uniform breeder of fine pigs , Cock Robin is without doubt the equal of any boar I have ever used on my farm . Breeders who are familiar with Lord Robin , Lord Lee and Cock Robin realize that I am making a strong statement , but I can prove beyond any question of a doubt that Count Robin is the equal and , in a great many respects , the superior of any of these boars . My sows are rich in the blood of Lord Lee , Masterpiece , Premier Duke , Baron Duke 125 th , Baron Duke 92 d and other world famous boars . THE PROFITABLE TYPE [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 November 1910

THE PROFITABLE TYPE N 0 w we will get back to the barrows shown by Friend Hibbard in loS 8 . when he showed a barrow actually under six months old that weighed 251 pounds—which is certainly pretty good weight for age . I will say here , it was better than any pigs the writer ever showed at that • . . ^ e , and I never made an exhibit of l . arrows in my life . All will agree that this is good weight for age , but ; ow does it compare with the best Miat other breeds were producing ? Kight along about that time my old ; iend , S . H . Todd of Ohio , was showing Chester White barrows of same : ; e , at the same shows weighing over ;; 00 pounds each , more than 20 per cunt larger than Friend Hibbards oig of same age . This , now , at our greatest fat stock show of the day ; v .-here breeds should have had their t ! longest representatives . Then again back in 1875 , a pure bred Berkshire pig bred in Minnesota ( arrowed on the 1 st day of June that year , and killed on the 23 d day of No...

EDITORIAL [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 November 1910

EDITORIAL Ready for the International . Berkshire breeders owe it to themgelves as business men to make the most of the opportunities which the International Live Stock Exposition in Chicago next month offers for the dignified exploitation and advertisement of the breed . Berkshires can stand the severest comparison with any breed . They are qualified to win the lions share of public attention in any show where all the breeds are exhibited . Both in the breeding and fat barrow classes there should be a record-breaking representation , and we shall be disappointed and surprised if the Berkshire fraternity does not respond in memorable fashion to the expositions invitation . From reports received at this office , and from our own observations , it is evident that our folks do not intend to be outdone at this great show . They are fitting a clinking good lot of hogs for all the classes , and there are likely to be eye-openers In the dressed carcass competitions . If a Berkshire does no...

UNKNOWN [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 November 1910

Think of the small fortunes that are made out of harness horses who have won the Harness Horse Futurity purees . Thousands and thousands of dollars have been won and the futurity purses all started In a very humble way just as the Berkshire Futurity show purses are starting out . It Is largely up to the Berkshire breeders whether or not the Berkshire hog comes in to his own in the next few years . We believe in the Berkshire because he can make more money for his owners than any hog alive . Get behind the Futurity Show in your own state and make it a big thing for next year . Send In your nominations first and then go after the other breeders in your own state .

Who ' s Who In Berkshires [Newspaper Article] — Berkshire World and Cornbelt Stockman — 1 November 1910

Who s Who In Berkshires J . H . Fullilove , Jr . Shreveport , La Mr . J . H . Fullilove , Jr ., who is really one of the younger and newer Bertshire hog men , is emerging very rapidly into the ranks of the Successful Berkshire Breeders . Having started in the business in a modest way about six years ago , he has , by hard knocks and reverses , failures and successes , learned that the hog business is like any other ^ dependent more upon the individual care , attention , interest and fixed ideal of the man who signs the pedigrees than on paying fancy prices for fashionable blood lines and not knowing the man behind the gun . Mr . Fullilove has increased his herd in six years from three gilts and a boar to about fifty head of grown hogs for breeding purposes , and his sales have increased even faster , which statement is easily proven by his continued purchases from Missouri , Kansas and Illinois to fill his orders , not being able to raise enough pigs to fill them , although his aver...
