Congress spends months of labor on the subject of the South. A Christian spectator from abroad, would suppose, from this simple statement of fact, that the main point of debate was as to how a million destitute people could best be rescued from starvation No such thing. He would be amazed to learn that the subject was far different that it was how these tremblers on the gflf of fatal hunger could best be held in political bondage. His amazement would be complete when he saw Trum bull's resolution voted down, or made a subject of long and elaborate debate. He would lift op his hands in horror when be heard Gen.
