g -agu W lie te 2 _Plehayue in rreviewing the lsrveation of the United States eattlu ravishment cases, and par u ularly the Ed Johnson case, a aegro who was lynched in Chat "Inaoog,-Tenn., recently, deplores the meddling of this court in a crime of such strocity to have aroused the resentment of self respecting people, irrespective of geogrsphical location. This negro had a fair trial, as provided by law, which was con ceded by the counsel for the pris oner, and yet not satiasfied with the verdict of a jury of morethan average intelligence, sought to haie the -execution delayed on frvolities, which, perhaps, in the end would have operated in the liberation of this brute, and the people, apprehensive of this resit, overpowered the sheriff, bloes into the jail and eseied the brute sad lynched him as he Ioald hav6 heen.
