Tancklai •■walwi. [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Herald — 4 March 1851

Tancklai •■walwi. We commenced the publication of the MnarevtLU Herai.o on the Sth of August last. We did so against the advice of friends, who told us that we would lose money—that the town would not support it. We have lost ■aoaayi but we have formed a circle of friands whom we respect; we have determined to make our home here; and, in accordance with the wishes of those friends, we have also determined la give Marysville a paper worthy of her poeiiion and importance. We trust our efforts may prove satisfactory to the dent sens of our city. We this morning commence the publication af a tri-weekly paper, upon an enlarged sheet, instead oif our heretofore small sheet twice a week. We do this not because we expect to make any profit by the Operation, but because many of tbe people of the city have wished ench • change. And aa we have now a city organisation, we have thought that la-day, the day after our municipal election, sirs would prAeut a sheet, worthy in same degree, of the new...

«a* — iMh. [Newspaper Article] — Marysville Daily Herald — 4 March 1851

«a* — iMh. Perhaps there is aa man an unfortunate, or more deserving of commiseration, than the man who cawwt appreciate the harmony of aecu sounds. Such an one is deprived of tbe most pleasurable of all enjoyments, and to such an one, life must possess but little j charms. Without indulging in the belief that ha who loves not music "has no soul," we yet tliink that the man so constituted, is generally, in a greater j or less degree, destitute of those emotion* which materially affect the heart, and cause H to overflow with the purest sentiments of benevolence. They j who love not music, are generally of a cold phlegmatic temperament, not easi 1 ly aroused to energy, and frequently cailoua to those mflueacee which call forth in others, expressions of the wannest sympathy. That music possesses an almost magic charm and produces an ! effect equally powerful and unaccountable on some minds, will be conceded unanimously; that it can "soothe e'en the savage breast "and calm the an- ; gri...
