It started one year ago this week. Hasn't this been a wonderful year? Congratulations! and keep up the good work. This week was no less busy as previous weeks, but on this week fell some sadness as we lost our beloved Grace Fox. Grace was certainly named correctly. She was a most gracious and re'fined lady who loved to play bridge at the Senior Center. Grace has been ill for the last few months and she has been greatly missed. We have sent numerous cards, phone calls and prayers to stay up with her, but the Lord won, and has certainly received an asset to the heavenly choir. Our sympathy goes out to daughter Shirley and family. Can you believe we are already into February? Monday started off with a house full of people playing games of all kinds, from breaking the balls on the poo...

Thursday, February 2,2006 - THE SACHSE NEWS - Section A - Page 9 THE SACHSE NEWS Shining on the community, events and people of Sachse Publisher Chad B. Engbrock Managing Editor Donnita Nesbit Fisher Letter to the Editor Is it working yet? Don Halium Not quite, that is the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan (MPDP) is not fully imple- mented. On Jan. 3 pharmacists in Wylie, sur- rounding areas, and across the nation faced seniors at the counter waiting to have their prescriptions filled through their new MPDP. Pharmacists report that some customers came in without I.D. cards or letters showing their eligi- bility and others were surprised that they had to pay full cost until meeting a $250 deductible. Many seniors acted early and signed up in November and early December. Needless to say those who sub- scribed after Dec. 15, 2005 may still be waiting for their I.D. cards to arrive. You may be asking why? CMS waited until late in the year to exercise automatic enrollment of Medicare/Medic...

This past week, the Pirates, fielding a team made up primarily of freshmen and sophomores, fin- ished fifth at a 12-team invitational meet at Wylie High School. Wylie scored 80 points to finish behind Lewisville (179), Piano East (166). Plano(l24), and Irving (89.5). They did finish ahead of district rivals Henderson (sixth with 76 points), Longview Pine Tree and Lancaster (tied at ninth with 49 points), and Quinlan Ford (12th with 27.5 points).
