Cricket. HEIDELBERG V. ALPHINGTON. [Newspaper Article] — Evelyn Observer, and South and East Bourke Record — 14 December 1883

Cricket. HEIDELBERG V. ALPHINGTON. Considerable local interest was evinced in the above match, which took place last Saturday on the ground of the former, as the majority of the Alphington players had, during the last three or four years, been members of the H.C.C., but had seceded at the commencement of the present season: Having been very successful in their previous matches against the town visitors, the Alphington members made no secret of their determination and ability to put the elder club through, but as the scoring shows, they received a decided defeat, notwithatinding they had sent to Melbourne for players, in order to make their victory the more certain. THE AYRSHIRE COW. [Newspaper Article] — Evelyn Observer, and South and East Bourke Record — 21 December 1883

- THE AYRSHIRE COW. ` A little' cow that gave her live wielgit 'iil imilk in twenty days was rather an eye-opener to my wise friends, and gradually, it got noised abroard 'tlibt my cows were giving a "slash" of milk, and in the hottest weather were keeping up the flow, when the " native" had reduced its 'yield by at least one iallf." There are now a great many :Ayrhnlire grades in this neighborhood, and they have proved very economnical cows, being large milkers, easy keepers, a'd holding to their milk well through thel season.
