MRS. SARAH SEATON Another one of the district's pioneers has passed on, a person I who was loved and respected by all who knew her; a woman who always thought it better to give than to receive, and by her ac tions during her lifetime she lived up to that belief. Yes, the dear old lady has gone, and her passing is mourned, and mourned deeply. We refer to Mrs Sarah Seaton, who passed away in her 95th year. The late Mrs. Seaton was born at Euroa in 1856, and came to live In the Alexandra district at the age of thirteen years Later, she and her late, husband, William Seaton, selected land at Koriella, then known as Alexandra Road, where they lived with their fainm ilyat ''Wintouii," Koriella. Af ter the death of her husband she lived'at her old home. Later she resided with her daughter Ann, at Caulfield. MR. THOMAS O'BRIEN. The death occurred suddenly at his home, Buxton, on Sunday morning last of Mr. Thomas O'Brien. He appeared to be in the best of health as on the Sat- urday night he attended a birth- day party to a relative He was conversing with people at the ga- thering. On leaving the party he seemed quite all right. How- ever, after retiring to bed he pas- sed away. The late Mr. O'Brien had a wide circle of friends, all of whom regret his passing, at the age of 62 years. The late Mr. O'Brien was em- ployed by the Forestry Commis- sion at Taggerty at one time, but of late years carried out work on his farm at Buxton. He was held in high esteem by all who knew him. The funeral took place at the Alexandra cemetery on Tuesday last, the cortege leaving from St. Mary's Church. Rev. Fr. Beare officiated at the Church and at the graveside. T. Wilkin is leaving the town. ORDINARY BUSINESS. Matters referred to by Cr. Edwards: Drain in Grant street from Red House down, was in a bad condition and re quired attention; road near Brough. ton's (mud and slush being used and stock belonging to Mr. Broughton get. ting out while some work was being done there); Kerr's road ht Taggerty; 'drain near Mr. Elliott's residence. The President spoke of interviewing the engineer regarding Broughton's road, and was told that the material was not of inferior quality.-The en gineer gave an explanation regarding the material, and said it was excel lent. He also explained the matter regarding one wire strainer.-'The President advised the meeting that the engineer would look further into the question of the strainer. Cr. Weeks said the road to Yarck cemetery was in need of attention. Cr. Almond drew the engineer's at tention to the turn-off at Goodear's, at Yarck. The culvert near Dwyer's, Alexan dra, was blocked, said Cr. Barker.

Diggers' Golf Day The Alexandra Diggers held their annual Golf Day on the lo cal links last Saturday. The course was in good condition, and the weather remained fine until near the end of the programnie when light rain began to fall. Winners : Tom Mitchell Cup - Rev. Coller, 47 (won on count back). Ladies' Open Handicap - Mrs. ]. Walker 45/. Men's Team of Three- Rev. S. Taylor, M. Nugent, L. Coller, 213. Approach to 19th Hole - H. Foletta. Mr. Jim Stevenson, President of the Alexandra R.S.L. presen ted the trophies to the winners. The ladies' auxiliary provided afternoon tea. Mr. and Mrs. L. H.
