. MARYSVILtiA at . 1. (From our Correspondent.) Septembner 13.' Great indignation is expressed hby a tourists visiting this district at the h< neglect ahown by the council in regard t" to Stevenson's Falls track, which is completely blocked, and hiisl been for over three months. One %?could think 01 now that the fine weather has set in ft the cnunitillors for this end would see Ca to this, eonsidering that our local tradespeople derive their living from c tourists. But this is only one of many .c neglects; take the footpath leading up to the focal State School, tor instance, t1 which is the one most used, and during e half the winter a stream of wrttei takes possession of the centre of it. I would t appeal to.~ yo, Mr. Editor, to try and t awaken our ci'dy fathers out of their Rip Van Winkle sleep, so that they may display a little of the brainy vigor *liieh they were once noted for. MOUNT ST. LEONARD TRAMWAY. [Newspaper Article] — Healesville Guardian and Yarra Glen Guardian — 15 September 1899

MOUNT ST. LEONARD I TRAMWAY. ---~- ? -- For some three months, this tram. way has been disturbing the peace of a a few of the Myers Creek settlers, whb it have strenuously opposed, by every art and device, to block Mr. Crowley from obtaining leave of the Forest Depart- fl ment to construct such, and they went d so far as to invoke: the aid of the Minister and the Eltham Shire Council a to stay the hands of the Minister of Lands and Forests in granting liberty it to carry out the necessary work. To any one of experience, the alternative ce route proposed by the settlers, to that T applied for by Mr. Crowley, is entirely opposed to sense and reason, and utterly impossible for anything short di of a switch-back railwaiy car. After at deputations had been received by the t" Minister from both partisa, he decided to retnit the question to further inquiry h, and report. On Tuesday last,. Mr. cc Verrin (Conservator of Forests), Mr. cc Thotn (Surveyor), and Mr. Ingle (Forest Ranger), were a...
