DANGEROUS STUMPS. A very serious accident was nar rowly averted on Sunday evening a short distance from the State school. Mr. Woods, of Wangaratta, was driv ing homo with his wife and child, and, in order to avoid the metalled road had taken a side track. Owing to the darkness a stump about a Icot high was unobserved, conseluent ly it was struck. The impact caus ed the vehicle to be overturned and theo idcupapnts thrown out, Mr., Woods sustained severe cuts to isi knees, while Mrs Woods received many bruises.
