Green, of Brisbane, consult ing geologist to the St. George Conner ami coal Mines, near Laura. Mr Green has been on an official visit to the mine, where he reports finding every thing in first-class order. Tho primary object of the visit was to locate the position of a discovety of quicksilver ore which was met with. Although the position of the rich ore has not yet bee.i detected, there is undoubted proof of i.Iie existence of cinnabar in several plac°s on the property. prospecting will be carried on In conjunction with the exploitation o{ the copper deposits;. The deer) shaft is now down 93 feet and crosscuttins will bo resorted to. From an examination of the lode, Mr Green found that the shaft would have to be sunk to a depth of at least 130 feet before it would be cut.
